ein dekoratives Element, dass das PoL-Logo zeigtIm Rahmen des Exzellenzclusters PoL werden an der TU Dresden neue Paradigmen zum Verständnis des Lebens und lebender biologischer Materie erforscht.

Zwar ist der Kenntnisstand zu den biochemischen Grundlagen des Lebens inzwischen weit fortgeschritten, doch das Verständnis für lebende Materie und ihre dynamische Selbstorganisation hängt weit hinter dem für nicht lebende Materie hinterher. Daher widmet sich PoL der Aufklärung jener Prinzipien, welche die Grundlage der dynamischen Organisation lebender Materie bilden. Dies dient dem Ziel, Einblicke in die „Gesetze der Physik“ zu erhalten, die der dynamischen raumzeitlichen Organisation des Lebens in Molekülen, Zellen und Geweben zugrunde liegen. Fundamentale Physik wird dazu genutzt, biologische Fragen zu verstehen und zu lösen. Zu diesem Zweck kommen innovative experimentelle Ansätze, theoretische Vorhersagen und Computersimulationen synergetisch zum Einsatz.

Das von der DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) geförderte Exzellenzcluster verbindet ein multidisziplinäres Team von Wissenschaftlern aus Physik, Biologie und Informatik. Die Forschung wird von der TU Dresden und DRESDEN-concept getragen. Raimund Dachselt ist einer der Projektleiter im Cluster. Innerhalb des Forschungsbereichs “Wissenschaftliches Rechnen und Systemmikroskopie” führt das Interactive Media Lab Forschungsarbeiten im Bereich der immersiven, interaktiven Exploration multiskalarer biologischer Daten durch.
